Moo Moo Who Review

An honest take on Doctor Who

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special Trailer

It is finally here! The trailer for the 50th Anniversary Special. All I can say is that I am really excited now. My husband says that he seems to think that the special will have all the previous incarnations frozen in time. I am interested to see how Moffat incorporates not having all the classic Doctors back. I know that a lot of fans including myself will be extremely disappointed if it is just Matt Smith, John Hurt, and David Tennant running around.

I have a little hope for the special now that I see the trailer. It isn’t a lot, maybe a small speck of hope. It is better than what I had before. I honestly don’t think it will live up to this trailer.

The Doctor’s Daughter- 7/10

I really enjoyed this episode. I thought I was going to hate it due to the subject of the Doctor becoming a new temporary father, but I was really surprised to see how they handled the story.

THINGS I LOVED:

I really loved the story of this episode. It reminded me a lot of the Stargate SG-1 episode titled “The Other Side”. I liked the fact that there was more to the war that was going on and the ending of it just being seven days since it started was really awesome to me.

I liked that Martha was separated from the rest of the group. I feel like she is a stronger role when she is away from the Doctor. When she is with him I get a sense that she is in love with him and I just can’t handle that mess.

I enjoyed the scene with the little toy mouse that the Doctor found. It reminded me of the older episodes where the Doctor would have random things in his pocket. This whole episode reminded me of a classic story. There were some parts that didn’t have the classic feel, but a majority was pretty comparable.

I really wish Jenny would come back. I don’t believe anything ever happened to her part of the story which is a shame. I may be wrong though. I really hope I am because I really liked her.

The reason why this is rated so low considering how much I enjoyed it is because of all the unnecessary scenes they added. I am referring to the ones of Donna and Jenny discussing how it feels to be a companion and what the Doctor’s name is. I get tired of the same information being repeated in the new series. Do we really have to be reminded where he comes from every single season? Can’t the new viewers just use Google?

This will have to go as one of my favorite episodes of the season so far. The repetitiveness was annoying, but the good story really made up for it.

The Poison Sky- 2/10

This was a hot mess. It was one thing after the other.

THINGS I LOVED

I do appreciate the “are you my mummy?” quote from the Doctor. One other thing I liked was the fact that Donna was up on the ship while the Doctor was on Earth. I like it when the companion can hold their own.

THINGS I HATED

They always use the scenes with the news. They close up on the news anchor’s mouth. I hate that! What is the point of these scenes? We already know what is happening!

Donna is trapped on the Tardis. What does she do? Call her mom. Again we are back to seeing what the family is up to. Why drag them in it?

Luke is so useless. When he figures out thar he is betrayed, he cries like a baby. Really?

THINGS THAT MADE MY EYES TWITCH

I feel like they are punching me in the face with drama. The scene where Martha is talking to her clone is so stupid. I get so tired of hearing about her family.

I am really disappointed with this whole storyline. They could have done so much better with it.

The Sontaran Stratagem- 5/10

I can’t quite put my finger on why I don’t like this episode so much. Something didn’t click with me.

THINGS I LOVED:

I liked the overall story of this episode. The Sontarans are one of the least annoying villains of Doctor Who. The idea of them using poisonous gas installed in cars isn’t that far fetched. The pace of the episode was nice and I was interested the whole time. There wasn’t the same moral dilemma like in the past episodes featuring Donna. That was a nice little break. If only it would last.

THINGS I HATED:

I don’t understand why they brought Martha back so soon. It just makes things more dramatic. Companions against other companions. I hated how Martha warns Donna not to get too close to the Doctor because her family will get hurt. Which leads Donna to go back home.

Why must the companions return home every time they are on Earth? Like I have mentioned before, this is a staple with the show now. We have to know what is going on with their family. I could care less what is going on with them!

I hated Luke with a passion. His voice made me want to throw something. His everything made me want to throw something.

I don’t think they had to make this a two-parter. They could have gone without the scenes where Donna is at home and Martha is warning her about getting close to the Doctor. I hope the second part will be a little better.

The Walking Dead: Nebraska

This episode was bland. There is this pattern of character development right after something major happens. I honestly don’t have much to say about it.

Who taught Lori to drive? Everyone knows you do not look at a map and drive at the same time. I have come to the conclusion that she just sucks at life.

I think Rick has gone bat crap crazy. Look at his eyes! I am excited to see how crazy he will get.

Speaking of crazy, I am counting down the days until Dale kills Shane. I hope that day is soon.

I also hope that the episodes start to pick up. I can’t take anymore character development.

The Walking Dead: Pretty Much Dead Already

This should be renamed Shane is a giant butthole. Here is why:

HE MADE LORI’S PREGNANCY ABOUT HIM

20131007-175438.jpg

Rick ends up arguing with Shane about staying at the farmhouse. He lets it slip that Lori is pregnant. What does Shane do? Go and talk to Lori about how it is his baby. He doesn’t even want the baby. He just wants her to admit that it may be his. Douche alert!

HE MADE THE WALKERS IN THE BARN ABOUT HIM

20131007-180127.jpg

He had to go and act all macho and kill the zombies in the barn. Risking safety at the farm. Why do men do that? He almost seems like he is having fun.

IN THE END HE MADE RICK DO THE DIRTY WORK

20131007-180617.jpg

He acts all big and bad until something horrible happens. They find Sophia in the barn and who has to shoot her? Not Shane. Rick has to. After all that yelling about how Sophia was long dead. I really despise him.

This episode was great. It really made up for the snooze fest episodes before it.
